Color themes
« on: April 25, 2008, 17:22:13 pm »
There are some color theme's available for VirtueMart 1.1
These are made to integrate with the default J! template colors.

Download colors:
  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Orange
  • Red
  • White

Source Photoshop file
The source file to make your own images / alterations to the existing images:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Orange
  • Red
  • White

The color theme's are similar to the Default theme, with the only difference that these have an other color than the default blue.
Besides this, are the images all consistent in size and color.

The default Photoshop source file offers imagery for the J! 1.5 rhuk template as well. (although is this not the original, but just a reference to modify).

How to?
In Photoshop, change the graphics as you see fit.
And save them for the web: File > Save for web (or press Alt + Shift + Ctrl + s)

Here you can select with the slice tool, which image you want to save (hold shift for multiple images at one time), most images should have the extension *.png.
Some are hardcoded, so you are bound to the original extension and or file size.

Make a backup of you theme, or copy and paste a theme,
place the images in the right folder (overwrite) and upload them.

If you copy paste a theme, you need to modify the css files etcetera as well.

The files are too large to attach, so please be patient while I try to make these files available to the community.
The files are temporary linked - when the link is broken, these files are available at VirtueMart Dev - VM User Interface
Feedback on these color theme's, please report at VirtueMart Dev - VM User Interface.

Upload theme
Upload your theme(s) under the following path (where default theme resides)
components > com_virtuemart > themes > ... your themes here

I have tried the themes, but unfortunately they did not fully function for me.

When I chose to use the red or black theme, the categories would display one one product several times. Instead of displaying all products.

However, when I chose to revert to default, everything displayed as meant to within the categories.

On the plus side, which I am extremely grateful for, is that I have used some of the graphics from your themes and installed them into the default theme and altered the code in the CSS to link the the required graphics. Which works beautifully for me. Again, thanks.

I love the blue, as it matches my site, however, when I change my default template to vm_blue I lose my add to cart quantity, which then gives me an error saying that the website needs more information (leading to attributes) before it's able to put it in the cart. It's looking for a quantity, but there is no place to put it. When I switch back to the default template, I get a quantity and all is fine.

If I find the missing code, I'll post an update.

Thank for these themes, they look great!

They look awesome... however they cause problems and do not let you add items to your cart.

It says "You must select a product variant before adding this to your cart" for every product - even if there is no variant.  If there is a variant and you put the variant in, it still asks for it.

I also took the images and modified it myself and it looks amazing!

Thanks for your replies.

I made these themes with an release candidate,
and since it's not in the core, I aspect some theme related code has changed.

I will take a look at this as soon as I have some time available.
Thanks for your replies.

I am glad to hear you took the liberty to use only the images, this was my original intention. But for those out there who do not know how or lack time to integrate the images (and colors) themselves, are the themes.

I hope to get an update soon.

Why would you upgrade to RC2 and not Stable?

It's exactly the same "stable" code as the default theme.
But since it's just 25th of april I made this theme(s) available,
I think it is better to wait a few days, to be sure I haven't made a simple mistake.
If there isn't a bug-report of some sort the upcoming two days or so, I will make the RC2 stable.

It's just a little safety, but you can use it as stable, it should be as stable as the default theme is.

Ah,.. like this:
I found a little problem:
feed-icon-14x14.png > is not correctly linked...

For these minor changes, it's a RC  ;)  ;D

edit: fixed

Some screen shots would really make this thread noteworthy.. Anyway we can make that a habit in the future?
