Browse page - uneven columns
« on: September 05, 2008, 20:06:23 pm »
This has been driving me crazy and it's probably an easy css fix -

When displaying products in the category page, I'm using browse_5.php with 2 products per row.  If one product has a short description and the other doesn't, the columns are uneven.

How do I space the category columns evenly, whether it has a short description or not?

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your code, but you can't pick your friend's code.

You can edit the theme.css file.

-Find out how wide your page area is. (ex: 750px)
-Divide that in half. (ex: 375px)
-Open the theme.css file found in the com_virtuemart/themes/default directory
-Find
.browseProductContainer {
   width:100%;
   padding: 3px 3px 3px 3px;
   vertical-align: top;
}

-Edit the width to the exact size you want (ex:375px)

You can also hard code the browse page template. Add a style to the DIV tag at the top (ex: <div style="width:375px;">

Hope that helps...

I don't know if this is the right answer or not. I've read it in the Virtuemart_User_Manual.pdf (page 35 of the manual, but page 45/90 of the pdf)

It said :
Quote
You can use browse_2 for 2 products per row, browse_3 for 3 products per row and so on (maximum per default: 5)

So, in your case, maybe try using browse_2 instead of browse_5 and see if it makes any different.
