Description:
The "check now!" button to check for updates does not work. If you click on it you see red html output. This is probably just the case for the Release Candidate, maybe it is just a thing for the task list. (bugtracker tasks? http://dev.virtuemart.net/cb/proj/tracker/browseTracker.do?tracker_id=4)

VirtueMart Version:

VirtueMart 1.1.0 RC2

Joomla/Mambo Version:
Joomla! Version:  Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable [ Daytime ] 22 February 2008 23:00 UTC 
User Agent:  Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) 

Steps to replicate:
Tested in Simple Layout:
- select Admin
- select Check for Updates
- click on the "Check now!" button
Result: see attachments

Proposed fix(es):

ok. I will try the code from the svn repository then. Or is it a problem to run VirtueMart 1.1.0 with joomla 1.0.x instead of 1.5?

This problem should be fixed with RC3.

Tested it with RC3, it behaves different. I get a "Connection Failed" text displayed.
The called link (output from firebug):
http://<url>/administrator/index2.php?option=com_virtuemart&task=checkForUpdate&page=admin.ajax_tools&only_page=1&no_html=1
The response is the text "Connection Failed".
Just tell me if I should recheck with any config modifications.
