Please say the version of Joomla used, and the charset of Joomla's language pack.

Please note that, VM 1.0 does not have the automatic charset conversion, so charset of Joomla and VM langpacks must be the same.

I have resolved the issue, thank you very much :)

However, I have a question please:
I want to add/edit the translation file, what is the best way to do it?

Tried doing it in Notepad++ :
in original format I couldn't see the Russian characters, if I convert to UTF the characters are displayed but when uploaded to website it messed up.

Tried doing it in Word: converted to Windows cyrillic but have no idea how to get it work in the site.

Please, how do you edit the file?

Thank you :)

Also, I wanted to change the user's country names list (part of Virtuemart's user registration form) to Russian words, hence I edited the database... but it won't show up properly in the site.

I have tried changing the database collation to utf8, koi8r, and cp1251, none works...

Please kindly advise?
I'm so confused :(

Thanks!

Hmm.I resolved my above problem by keeping the file in its original format (Windows encoding) and use http://www.convertcyrillic.com/ to translate from Unicode [Русский язык] to CP1251 (Windows) [Ðóññêèé ÿçûê].
