Sort field as custom field

Hello I wanted to know if it was possible to have a custom field as a sort field in Virtuemart such as name, price, ...?
I tried but apparently it's not possible without going through a third party extension.

If you use a third-party extension, which one do you use? Preferably Virutemart 4 and Joomla 4 compatible.
