disable product display in internal search

Hi.
I have a product category called out of stock.
Does anyone have an idea how to hide products from this category in internal web search? I want products from this category to be visible only if I know the exact url address.

Set the products discontinued and use the hidden config discontinuedPrdsBrowseable=0

I found that if I create a category for an out of stock product and that category is disabled, the products in that category are not searchable :)
