Hi all,
I am in great need of help urgently.

I have had a website published for months now, and all of a sudden when you click to add a product to the cart, and go to see cart, VM is doing some very weird things.

First it was only adding one specific product not the one that was added. As you can see from my attachment, it was a featured item. So when I turned it off featured it did the following.

It adds 3 different products, and if you delete 1 product it deletes all of them and shows the one you added at the start.  >:( >:( >:(

Some strange stuff happening on this site. :'( :'(

I guess I really need to uninstall Virtuemart and do a fresh install, but I don't really want to have to re-create the products all again, is there a way to save them ? database table ? and put them back on after the reinstall?

Also the plugins for payment and shipping  :'( :'( will need to be reinstalled.

This close to Christmas I really need to fix this ASAP

Please help me. Has anyone else ever heard of this happening before?
Thanks Annie

I will try that, I had the same problem with opening up in another browser too.
it's doing my head in, so you don't think I need to uninstall VM and reinstall then?
Thanks Annie

Hi GJC Web Design,

Hi GJC,
Thanks for your advice about cashing, I think it is solved now, if you could check it for me I would appreciate it.

What i did was made sure cashe was off in the system, then noticed a post about Extensions / Plugins, find the System – Page Cache plugin and made sure it was off,
then I went to Extensions / Modules / VM - Featured products and then Advanced. I set Cashe to No, saved and looks like it is working as it should now.

I am sooo pleased, thanks again for your help.

Hi GJC,
One thing I have noticed is in between adding products there is no 'view cart' button. The only way to see what's in the cart is to add another product.

I am using the Protostar template.

Your advise on this would be invaluable, thanks
Annie

Hi Jorgen,
Sorry I have been very busy and just forgot about any images, etc.

Attached is an image and explanation on what's happening. Hope you can understand it.

So I have no Menu on VM pages, and no 'show/view cart' button to return to cart

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

cart is fine now

as your using Protostar for your VM pages you will have to clone and publish menu modules etc etc to the protostar positions
but their style will be completely different from your main site .. why not just use "default" for VM and the style will be picked up from your mx_joomla157 template?

Hi GJC,
So does the VM pages have the main menu and a "View Cart" button, as I still don't see them.

The reason I wasn't using the default template was because I didn't like the way it looked. I have had this site running for months now and was the same, but just now when I changed it over so I could take a screenshot, and it is like the rest of the site, totally unexpected.

It still doesn't have the  "View Cart" button, any idea why? the template is mx_joomla157.

Thanks for your help.

Looks like you don't have a VM Shopping Cart module published?    You could add main menu item to the checkout/cart too.

Hi jenkinhill,
Thanks for that advice, I did have the cart published but the position wasn't set to the right place, is now and I have the 'show cart' showing.

Thanks Annie

if u don't like mx_joomla157 's cart display just rename the templates/mx_joomla157/html/com_virtuemart to something else and remove any css that is applied to VM and then you have the display of protostar .. protostar btw has no VM overides so as already mentioned u are just using the VM default displays
