Joomla3 with virtuemart cache, can it be deleted manually

Having issues when I try and clear cache I get a 500 error after a while. Can I go in and clear the cache folder manually?

Hello, thanks for the reply, can I just delete the folders in the cache folder or do I have to delete just the files in the folders?

I'd delete everything within the cache directory
