VM administration component

After successfully upgrade to joomla site 3.9.16 with VM 3.6.10, i get prompted to upgrade the administration component, each time i do upgrade, when i login at a later date, get the same prompt, that the installed admin component is VM 3.4.2, i should upgrade to the latest version, what am i doing wrong

what do you mean with rebuild update site? i have cleaned the root caches, how do i go about rebuilding update site?Isn't this part of the VM component? do explain
