Stopped getCategory Recruse error

Help!  Can anybody help with this.  I have no idea what it means or how to fix it? I am using joomla 3.9.6 and virtuemart 3.4 versions.  I am in the process of loading the product categories to be displayed on the left Catalogue menu side and then I got this error message, I have also noticed that I cant get the categories to "drop down" under the main heading "Skin Care" on the Catalogue menu.  can anybody shed some light.

I had already the problem when i modified the category tree and removed a category for some years.
Does it work when you remove the category module on left ?
If it work, then you have certainly the same problem and you have to find the category set as parent but child at same time

hi, will try and remove. was just reluctant to as I have done a bit of work on it already .  not sure I totally understand "find the category set as parent but child at same time". but first things first.  Thank you for your response

he means the same cat that is a child of its self

fruits parent from banana
banana parent from fruits
