Moving from custom fields to own products for accesories
« on: July 18, 2018, 10:11:47 am »
Hello,

I currently have a webshop that works flawlessly, but there is one small thing that needs to be changed.

For now I have products with custom fields attached to it, whcih you can order accesories for that product.

The thing is, that the accesories are at the moment attached to the product, you cannot order the accesories apart from them, but you also cannot specify the different accesories.

Do I just need to use Child products? How do you guys tackle this problem?

Hello,

I should suggest you need to create accessories as indivisual product.

Best Regards,
hellorain.

You can use custom fields to create child products.

Another solution is https://shop.st42.fr/en/products/extra-product.htm
Demo http://pro.st42.fr/en/demo/extra-product
You can use checkboxes, ratio or list with quantity(or as related product)

Yeah I thought about this as well. But the problem is that the accessory on itself cost 10 but if you order it with the product it cost 5.

I see indeed, but if I order 2 of the main product, does it also directly takes 2 accesories? It needs to be individual of eachother.

This looks like the solution. I am wondering though if it can be done with the standard VM.

Can you also show how this looks on the actual invoice? Because that is important as well. I played around with the plugin and I think this is precisely what I need. Thanks for your reply. If I know how it looks in the backend I will purchase this.

Here is how it render in the product back-end

The search on bottom is an ajax search for products.
You can reorder the products and set default quantity, if needed.
You can change the subtitlte, if you use same plugin again. Eg you can add related or options with subtitltes similar products , suggested products ... to use different groups of products.

Ok, can I also change the price of the products? For example if you order it with the product you can buy it for 5 dollars, but if you order it individually you can buy it for 10.
Because I understand that you add the extra products by using products in the virtuemart product list.

The plugin do not have this possibility, but you can set this with awo coupon Pro rules. See https://awodev.com/documentation/awocoupon-pro/coupons for some informations.
