Unable to understand an option in product

Can someone please explain the usage of Select the 'Status of ordered products' available under admin->Virtuemart->Products->Edit Product->Product Status. I am unable to understand it by its tooltip. I tried setting it to some status and then order that product, but this status doesn't reflect in order.

I have undstand now.
this is when you have product orderd by customer.
You can filter the statut of orderd product, and only send mail for this filtered customers

The version is VirtueMart 3.2.14
ok, so you mean the customer will receive an email for the order of this product, only when the selected status is achieved for this product! For this purpose, I only know that there are 'Email' settings in configuration.

I am still no table to understand what you meant bu "filtered customers"! May you please elaborate

You can filter the list of customer that have buy the product using the 'Status of ordered products' if you need to send a mail.
