You can remove it on editing the code directly; Virtuemart is GNU/GPL, so you can do what you want.
You can return the code changes to the team, but i'm pretty sure, the team dont want modify it.
I hate myself that this is displayed, because i contributed many times to the code and now i have to see this horrible banner, so i remove it in all my customers websites using a javascript.
I accept perhaps to show a nice banner, but not this Yellow colors.
