Too long time for order confirmation and virtuemart management panel

Hi,
I have a site that version of Joomla! 1.5.22 and the version of VirtueMart 1.1.7 stable. The site is hosted by the host Aruba. Rarely inexplicably the site becomes a white page for a few seconds This problem is manageable.
Now this happens, (we did not make any changes to the site).
When you arrive at the order confirmation screen, the customer has to wait a long way to receive the confirmation of the order and then believe that it has not been restarted and executes another order. So for each order I will get 3 or 4 pending
Also when I check the customer that the shipment has left the site takes so long to send the mail. First things did not happen, I did not make the site.
What do these slowdowns depend on?

Order confirmation mail issue can be depend on server.

Hosting Provider should help you.

Also Please Provide site url so can take a look it thouroughly?

Those are very old Joomla & VM versions and not likely to work properly with current PHP.  Hacking is also a possibility with these. You could have very large error log files sitting on the server.
