Okay, So at work we've started to run into this issue when we try to set certain categories for new products. When looking through the database it is clear that the proper vendor is set yet we still see this issue. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this could be resolved? We use those categories so it would be nice to be able to use them again.

The only other thing to note is that a new update was installed onto our system a few weeks ago. But we only got reports of the issue today.

Vm version, php version, joomla version, which multivendor mode. Access rights, who works on the store, a superadmin, or just an "editor".

Milbo in order, Virtuemart is 3.2x, php version is 5.4.0,  Joomla most recent version 3.7.0 ,Multivendor mode of none, Editors work on the store,  permissions are not allowed default.

"Editors work on the store,  permissions are not allowed default."
There could be the reason, eh?

We have product new, edit, delete and change state.

But wouldn't that prevent any new products with any categories from being made.
I double checked and editors do infact have creation permissions.
It's just this select group of product categories and only this group. We call this category group multi-sports.

We don't really use Multivendor: It may be easier if I send a screenshot

Milbo

Maybe it is the amount of categories and not a problem with certain categories? I am not sure that I understood your problem correctly

The problem is a set of product categories will no longer allow us to save changes or create new products with those categories.

Update 05/18/2017-
It's taken care of. The virtuemart User assigned to the vendor had been taken  out of the super user group and placed
in the guest group and disabled.

So the editor had not the correct rights?

Or an editor with correct rights tried to set a category with vendorId=1 and the user of the vendorId =1 had no rights? Cause that should not make a difference. It is in fact an interesting idea to remove all rights from the shopowner.
