Product not displaying in virtuemart

I am trying to do a test upgrade on a site.

I have installed Joomla 2.5.28 and Virtuemart 3.0.8 - the same version as my regular site.  My goal is to upgrade Joomla to the latest version.

For the most part everything appears to be ok, however...

1. On the store page http://www.modcoverguy.com/upgradetest/index.php/the-store after all the categories it shows search in store and lists all the products.  I just want the categories only to show.  How can I remove the unwanted items?  Strange it's the same version as the regular site, but has different options.

2.  If you click on any of the items, you get the website cannot display the page.  On the regular site it goes to....

I noticed the test site isn't going to the component directory and then virtuemart....what have I done wrong?  Both directories have the same version of Joomla 2.5.28 and Virtuemart 3.0.8

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thought one..  VM3.0.8?   the current is VM3.0.18

I purposely installed Virtuemart 3.0.8 so that everything was the same on both sites before doing any upgrades.  I want to make sure everything is there before upgrading to Virtuemart 3.0.18 and Joomla 3.6.1.....

In VM3.0.18 the "home" link is different, using a top level category view with options to show or not show products.  So a waste of time trying to solve this on 3.0.8

I see a 500 error - but your template looks like it is using old VM2 overrides so probably needs updating anyway.

My advice is to update to 3.0.18 on Joomla 3.6.1 and then sort the template & menu issues out.

Thank you! I switched the override and that worked.  I have successfully upgraded the Joomla and Virtuemart.  Thank you again!

Ok I have it upgraded and on the new server (http://162.144.152.117/~stamper/index.php/home), but on my menu item for The Store it's not working the way I want it to.  I have selected Virtuemart and Category Layout - I just want the Categories to show.  But it's showing all my products below there.  I don't want them to show on this screen.  I went back to the menu item and selected not to show products and was thinking it just wouldn't show the products on this screen.  Now they won't show at all.  Is there any way around this?

there is work being done on this aspect...  3.0.18.1 -- is in testing now ..  perhaps Max can send u a copy for testing
