Hello guys

I'm currently running a website with Joomla 3.6 and PHP 5.6. I'm looking for a stable & compatible version of VM for it.  Is there a link or a specific place to go ?

Many thx
Nic

VM3.0.16 is the "official" stable version for J3.5.1/J3.6, but VM3.0.17.4 is the latest pre-release for the 3.0.18 stable version, and is working well.  Your choice.

How can you  tell the preview from the stable? There isn't any indication there. Am I missing something?

will explain again for the 20th time..

odd numbers beta test for experience users.. when proven odds become even... i.e 17 will become 18 when proven bug free stable

Just a crazy thought; if you're annoyed by doing something avoid doing it. I know, crazy, huh?

GJC Web Design

here's a thought -- try the search..... so that the same questions don't have to be asked and answered time and time again....

It would be nice if the versions had the stable and test labels as it was for earlier releases, this will help the users identify the correct version to use.

To GJC Web Design

I subscribe to and visit many forums and social media where Virtuemart (VM) is very frequently mentioned. Unfortunately, VM, with few exceptions, becomes the target of all types of undeserved negative comments and criticism. One such attack was by a Joomla extension developer whose software starts and ends with a vowel—let's call him DoubleV.

This spoiled brat launched a personal, vitriolic, vicious attack against VM and Max in a public forum. Who was there to defend VM and Max? I was. As a matter of fact, Max and I had a nice conversation about the attack and this spoiled brat afterward. So, what was my reward? DoubleV pulled the license from his security software I had purchased and this left my sites venerable to all sorts of nasty attacks. Fortunately, I immediately had a backup plan and installed another security suite that's even better.

So what's my point? Congratulations, GJC Web Design you came out swinging on a public forum and attacked, by attempting to humiliate and ridicule, one of the most devoted VM users. In reality, all you accomplished was to embarrass yourself. It's not enough that so many others are not only attacking VM but also its users and founders but now it's happening from within VM. Besides, I didn't personally ask for your "help." Again, congratulations, GJC Web Design, you must be very proud of yourself. Keep up the "good" work.

You really need to calm down a bit..

Your initial question about versioning has been asked and answered many times.. e.g. 6 days before

e.g. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=132387.msg469256#msg469256

a simple search would have given you the answer but instead you chose to ask again...

Quote1. Posting Rules

1.1. Try to pick the correct forum to post your question.
1.2 Before posting your question, search the forums. Your question or comment may have already been discussed, answered or resolved.

At which point I said:  will explain again for the 20th time..

If u think that requires this answer:

then I think you have some issues concerning your sense of victimisation...
If you feel this entitles you to a rant then you haven't read the forum rules ...  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=19244.0

I understand your point, I think also GJC understands it. Just understand him also :-).

Sometimes it happens that heavily involved users dont know a simpel thing and dont use the search, because they expect that they are "in" the topic. I know that from myself.
But sometimes there are just lazy users and GJC is atm just a bit tired by lazy users. So all good. All fine, less worrying, than my died cat.
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member

Advocates of VM are always welcome :-)

Looks like GJC was simply trying to suppress multiple posts in the forum for the same topic.  The general minimum expectation is that forum users do a search before opening a new topic.

Unfortunately too many people raise almost exactly the same query in order to save themselves time and the bother of doing any investigation.

GJC expressed his concern at answering the same question multiple times and then answered the question - I do not believe he should be embarrassed about anything.

I do not see that your response is a mitigation for asking a question that a search may have helped with and you appear to have taken a negative and inflammatory stab at GJC which is exactly the behaviour you complained you were victim of.

So please let us all save our energies for our stores and our customers :-)

As a service provider myself, I sympathise with GJC who is being asked the same questions over and over. But maybe you VM guys are contributing to the confusion yourself and without realising it...
I made the same mistake recently and asked a question without knowing the 'odd/even release identification rule'. Rightly I received a tap on the nose for that.
Now, let's appreciate the humour in life:
Not too long ago, on this forum:

My remark, showing that I had learned my lesson:
<quote>... I understand that odd version numbers (the 17 in this case) refer to 'development releases' so I do not trust 3.0.17 for my production site... </unquote>

The reply was:
<quote>... In this case it is meant for production, because it is the last vm3.0.17.4... </unquote>

I had a sigh and and a good laugh. You must admit that this is confusing. Well, we are all humans, most of us are trying to do our best to make life as pleasant as possible.

Finally, this thread mentions that VM 3.0.16 is the latest stable release. Then why is the "download VM3 now" link on the official VM download page resulting in the download of VM3.0.14 ?
Please understand me right. It's not a big deal but again confusing.
Regards
Rob
