Quote<quote>... I understand that odd version numbers (the 17 in this case) refer to 'development releases' so I do not trust 3.0.17 for my production site... </unquote>

The reply was:
<quote>... In this case it is meant for production, because it is the last vm3.0.17.4... </unquote>

Probably not explained as well as it should be but I think max meant in your case that as 3.0.17.4 has been extensively tested it is about to become 3.0.18 and so could be risked in your case..  :)

My remark, showing that I had learned my lesson:
<quote>... I understand that odd version numbers (the 17 in this case) refer to 'development releases' so I do not trust 3.0.17 for my production site... </unquote>

The reply was:

I had a sigh and and a good laugh. You must admit that this is confusing. Well, we are all humans, most of us are trying to do our best to make life as pleasant as possible.

It makes perfectly sense, if you are familiar with testing in general. In a perfect world it is so, that the last test release IS exactly the same as the stable release. Because if you change something, you must test again, right? But I agree, of course it is confusing

the vm3.0.17.4 had maybe 100 releases from vm3.0.16 to 3.0.17.4, most of them just distributed in very small circles. :-)

The only thing that's unfortunate is the death of Max's cat. That sucks, sorry Max. By the way, I never explicitly asked for GJC's help, he/she volunteered it.

But like AH and Max point out, let's put our efforts into developing/solving/and growing this great software. Thanks for stepping in guys.
