My parents website has the VirtueMart 1.1.5 stable version and I'd like to upgrade it to the newest version for them.  Am I able to do that with such a outdated version? And how?
Thank you in advance.

you should get it to vm1.1.9 I would think first.. (last vm1.1)

then there is a migration (it is no way an upgrade!) to J3/VM3 ... but effectively you are only migrating the data into a brand new J3/VM3 site/template/extensions
so u have to get that up and running first

first get the J1.5 data into J3 .. then the vm1.1 into VM3..

there is plenty of posts on here.. but I use the inbuilt VM migrator which works well unless you have complex product attributes

Yeah I've never done this kind of stuff before so.. I'm doomed haha.  But I'll look into it tomorrow at work.

IF all this is new then maybe you should use a migrator extension which talks you through the process.  http://extensions.virtuemart.net/import-export/virtuemart-migrator-detail

The advantage of the Daycounts Migrator is that it does not change the old site at all, just copies over what it needs onto a new installation.
