Make country default in VM3

VM 3.0.12

Im trying to set USA as my default country and have no other countries available in drop down list. Ive read about editing shopper_fields and admin tab but that seems to be applicable to older versions of VM. Can someone show me where to make this edit in VM3.0.12

Open the Shopper Field Details page for virtuemart_country_id - the Default is set just below the Description, field-tip text area.

You should be using VM3.0.16 with Joomla 3.5.1 otherwise checkout emails won't work.  http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

CONFIGURATION->shopper fields

click on the country field

unpublish all the other countries in CONFIGURATION->countries

ughhh Im an idiot. I was looking in the configuration setting itself...shop, emails, shopfront, templates, etc. My configuration sub tabs where collapsed. In all my looking around I never saw the ones you just pointed out. Thank you very much and sorry for the oversight.

sry guys but this is crazy. simple thing like this and so COMPLICATED and DONT WORKing.

i put my country code to the default field in the virtuemart_country_id but IT DONT WORK. in the cart there is not my country selected..

what could be wrong???

im on joomla 3.6.2 vm 3.0.16.

virtuemart_country_id is the id.. i.e. number  .. for US is 223

I am using joomla 3.6 and Virtuemart 3.0.16
I have set the default Country to 222 shopper fields which is United Kingdom, but when I go to live site, it always brings up Andorra as the default. I checked DB table and it also shows 222 is set to default.I have read all the posts related to Default Country and cannot find a solution. Where else can I do or where can I check to see why it is not showing the correct default Country?

Yes it is published. I tried unpublish and re publish, still does not show up as default.

All we can say is if configured as in shopper field country default, it works
What we don't know is what template / setup / checkout u have -- tried on a stock template? (Protostar)

Hello and thank you for your help. I found the issue. I had to configure One Page Checkout module for Default Country as well. All is working fine now. Thanks again.
