Milbo, You should wait 1 or 2 months, because for now only Joomla Beta can use php 7.0
I have the plan to migrate 3 or 4 site to php 7.0 next months.
SO the vote should be.
Do you plan to use php 7.0 in next months ?
ANd i use 5.4,5.5,5.6, so how i vote, i vote 7.0 because this is the case in 1 mmonth or 2, if all components are compatible ? ;)

[edit]Voted PHP5.6 but we're on PHP 7+ since a long time now.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Using 5.6.18 at the moment but had to ask our cheap (but very nice) shared hosting not to put me on 7 yet as they have started to do with most.
So the sooner the better in regards to go to PHP 7, at least from my non-developer POV  ???

I've been doing websites since 1998 - Im a designer - not a developer nor a server administrator - but from what our test show with PHP7 it really is a game changer. Our web shops run twice as fast directly with out us doing anything. AND now we are trying OPCache that is built in to PHP7 and we get even better results.

Combining this with JCH Optimize PRO to make all images on the wholse server as small as possible and do some simpler minify of css and js files REALLY makes website fast.

PHP7 will take over very quickly. SiteGround (which is many web agencies favorite for Wordpress/Joomla) has PHP7 and OPCache since a while back already. Its here and it will take over fully I think. Why should it not?

Yes, but wait a little, i have already reported a little mistake in Joomla 3.5 Github files(not important for VM), so i think on production site, it's better to wait some weeks.
And not only siteground provide php7.
I have opcached, memcached, nginx, any php release i want, on a french localised VPS for half the price of siteground or at same price with a bigger SSD and more memory.

Well of course ... First Joomla 3.5 Stable must be out before going production. And Virtuemart probably needs a little bit of more testing (seems quite alright though already so it will be very minor things).

I also run a VPS with CentOS Nginx, ISPConfig, PHP 5.3, 5.4, 5.5 and 7.0, SSD, 6GB, 4 cores (PHP7 can be compiled with the right amount of cores too which is great) ... Its very fast and convienet to use ISPConfig to just create new websites. And its cheaper than SiteGround. I never use siteground (just mentioned it in regards to popularity) I use only that VPS I meanntieon here ... and we have a VPS that is for big shops that want their own VPS (lots of traffic) also built like above but with out the ISPConfig stuff.

HowToForge.com is the shit when it comes to setting up servers.

Actually I did the vote to see how many people use php 5.6 :-) I think also that php7 is a gamechanger. But on the other side, I think that most shops still run on php5.3. Most people do not visit the forum, so the result here is biased.

Hello,
Joomla 3.5 will support PHP 7.
PHP 7 is bringing a lot of great improvements to PHP, and we must know more about PHP 7 http://www.zend.com/en/resources/php7-5-things-to-know-infographic.

I voted for PHP 5.4 as we are using virtuemart with PHP 5.4, but we will use PHP 7 with Joomla's newer version.
