Hi!

Hope this is the right place:
This is a feature request for update order status in bulk.
See http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=29679.0 for more details.

Kind regards,
Gerald

Feature request: search the forum http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=120939.0  ;)

And yep I agree, been crying for it for years as you can see.

I'll third this too. I used to use a third party component for bulk order updates but they sadly discontinued the component. Just updating my shipped parcels each day takes an age when it ought to be a simple highlight, click status dropdown and save.

This click click click...  is yet very troublesome right? - Each day after day...  :'(

How much would you value for a solution?  ;)

And BTW what happened to the "results per page" we had below and we could select before, that was suddenly removed, now you have to select results per page in config, which makes this even worst.

click click click click click with filter by order status and filter by date of creation or modification... a nightmare, of course we are interested, I cried for it years ago, if you had demanded it then we will have it already but you relied in 3rd party components for a core feature! mistake! welcome to the real nightmare of changing order status daily in core vm ;D

Lindapower, what the heck your are talking about. I explained it often, and now I explain it again.

We, the developer of VM want to live, we want to eat, we have families. We cannot work all our life for free. So at begin we had to provide all features of vm1, then we had to extend it and find bugs. Meanwhile people pay for extensions or this and that. I say since years, if 10 people say, they need this feature, but one person needs another feature and PAYS for it, then I have to write the feature for which we get money, else there wouldnt be any vm3, nor vm2.6, the whole thing would have died already.

I often said, I am glad to enhance it, but if no one wants to fund it, it seems not so important, eh? On the other hand, the calculation is easy. When an employee is clicking 2 hours per day for 10 euro an hour, and you pay 100 euro to reduce this time to 1 hour, then the return of investment is after 2 weeks.

"but you relied in 3rd party components for a core feature! mistake!"
Unbelievable your view point. No the reality is just that there is not enough manpower, because the funds are too low. And people who do not write the core have of course the man power and they sell it and take the money. It would make more sense to give the money to the people who write the system.

and a lot people also forget, the more features are in VM, the more we have to maintain.

You completely misunderstood my post with your german bad temper as usual.

First of all I made no comment whatsoewer about having to pay for this feature, I'm just telling the users here complaining now that I made a post years ago about this missing feature of VM and if they had joined my request to develop it for the core back then instead of using 3rd party components we could have payed for it then.

Relax Max.

Milbo

ahh you mean with the "you", the other users. I understood you mean me. Btw "your german bad temper", germans are not known for beeing hotheaded.

and for the pagination thing. Imho j3 removed that.

Yes they are! half my family is german I know well ;D

About the pagination yes I also though it was removed from Joomla, actually if you check the joomla users in 3.4.5 that is gone but I have some components which have it.

Im talking about the box shown in the image, that was really useful cause although you had to click in each order you could do it much quicker with more results per page, I though you had removed that for security reasons.

Was very useful also in the product list page to reorder products.

What does the VM team estimate for that?

It depends on the implementation:

Do we want to use the dropown within the row? and just use the same order status and params for any checked order?
Or do we want a dropdown on top with a button "bulk status change".

Or, should we maybe remove the dropdown/form from the row and add an abstract to the top? Which is used for any checked order?

I invested already more than one hour in investigating the possibilities. I know it may take less then an hour to write a  quickndirty solution, but this isnt something I wanna release.

Hi!

I'd suggest to have a bulk status change form at the top for changing any checked order.
Ideally the form is similar to the one used in the backend of a single order under 'Update Status'.
And yes - no quick'n'dirty solution, of course  ;)

Kind regards,
Gerald

If you guys mean something like that which updates clicked orders would be great yes.
