I ran across documentation of VM 1.1 and the option to sell digital file such as jpg vector designs etc or other downloadable content To me this is a must have core feature not an option to purchase from third party vendor

I'd like to know why it no longer an option in VM 3

It is since VM2 not included in the core. The paid extensions have also more features as the old native core function from VM1.

Since VM2 the complete core is rewritten and on the other site there are many features in the core which were not available in the VM1 core.
