Multivariant string is being added as extra custom field to child products

Hi,

I have noticed this issue with string assigned to multivariant (to enable search)

somehow it adds these custom fields to child products: http://imtp.me/9pei02lj3.p

that then appear after selectign an option in the front end like this: http://imtp.me/9pek02lj3

When I delete them manually,everything works fine,but is there a way to prevent this, please?

Same happens to me! it seems something like a bug. I confirm it's possible to solve manually deleting the string but is there any way to prevent it? is very annoying and you loose a lot of time in case of a large amount of childs.

We found out that when you set the string settings Hidden to yes, it will  solve the problem

Possibly you can also use the layout position to set them to a non-existent position

But the string that is added automatically to the products is used in other products, so if I set it as Hidden disappear where I need... I'm missing something?

I think that you should not use the same custom field for the multi-variants and other fields

But I don't use the same custom field. When I use the Multi-variant custom field the system automatically add randomly one custom field of "String" type to the childs for every variant of the parent product, those String custom fields are not used in mutivariant . May be I'm doing something wrong but I don't understand what.

Another thing.... the string field added to the childs products has as "value" the type of variant of the parent.

And everytime I make a change and save the parent product automatically all the child are again with the strings I deleted

Ok now may be I understood... The string custom field is not random but is selected where you can see in the attachment. So, seen that seems impossible leave the field empty but you must insert a string custom field, I created a hidden string custom field and this solved my problems.
