Breadcrumbs with SEF on Product Detail Pages

Breadcrumbs were working in 3.3.6. After Joomla upgrade to 3.4.1 breadcrumbs stopped working on our product detail pages.
Added parameters "&limitstart=0&lang=en" to category view links in the breadcrumb module before the URL is translated with JRoute.
The product detail SEF breadcrumb links are working again.
- sh404SEF Version 4.4.1791 Enabled
- Joomla 3.4.1
- use URL Rewriting - No, Search Engine Friendly URLS Yes
- Virtuemart 3.0.9, Seo Suffix -detail with no other options checked

What happens if NOT using sh404SEF , instead using the default Joomla SEF?
