VM3 - ordering sub-sub categories not working

Hi,

I have some sub-sub categories that I cannot order properly.

In Virtuemart - Configuration - Configuration - Product Order Settings the dropdown menu for Default category sort order is set to Ordering

What I tried:
- In Virtuemart / Product Categories I clicked that small arrows in the Ordering column. There was no result.
- in the same Ordering column I tried to change the number in the input box. But again no change.
- I tried to edit the sub-sub category changing the Ordering dropdown menu. Here I had some hazardous results.

Is there any hope to make it work right?   

I have a feeling other orderings my not work as well.
