Hello,

I have just set up a new store under Joomla 3.4.1, using Virtuemart 3.0.6.2
After testing it on a server and with the latest Xampp an issue occurred.

I cannot register a new user. (Frontend) Neither using the shopping cart check out nor trough the account.

It simply doesn't happen anything. I click on "register" and I get directed to the same page again with an empty and ready to fill form again...similar to pressing "refresh".

Any suggestions?

GJC Web Design

have you registration enabled in Joomla?
Can you register with Joomla from the FE?

Ah okay, I did see that.

I can now login into the regular joomla registration (Login Modul).
Once I am registered, I can login into joomla as well as virtuemart

1. However, I still cannot register directly in virtuemart (neither at the checkout).
2. and in case I have required fields (such as City) in the joomla registration, they wont be placed with the same values in virtuemart (hence the user has to enter City again.

Is this a std clean install or some horrible quickstart thing?

Are you using a std (Protostar ) template?

Quote2. and in case I have required fields (such as City) in the joomla registration, they wont be placed with the same values in virtuemart (hence the user has to enter City again.

this will never happen - the two fields e.g. City - have no connection between J & VM
Anyway - normally you would ONLY register thru VM

There are no joomla address fields. You talk about the component com_contact. Vm is much older than these component and has its own userfields. Furthermore the com_contact is not reliable for us. Just use our shopperfields.

Yes, my template is based on Protostar? (havent touched the html)

- Under Plugins - User Profile you can ask for City and make it mandatory even during the registration process in joomla.
That not the problem here.

Users simply cant register in VM  :'(.
Another question, isnt there a login module since joomla and vm are disconnected when it comes to users(similar to the joomla login)?

GJC Web Design

they are not "disconnected" - it is just the fields that you can add in the profile have nothing to do with the perhaps same named VM ones

only the Joomla login module is nesscesary

Raytron

this doesnt solve the problem however.

To loop around I have enabled the function "register". This is very unfortunate - because it is sort of vital to allow users to register and send them material.

Doesnt anyone have the same issue?

QuoteDoesnt anyone have the same issue?

would seem not - I have done dozens of VM installs and never seen this problem

what does this mean?  Where?

He does not understand that there are no joomla userfields.

There are only userfields of the component com_contact. VM has userfields for a lot longer time than joomla with the contact component, so we could not use them. Later they appeared to unstable and are not suitable for vm.

You error is, that you use the joomla registration, just use the virtuemart one, for example the accountmaintenance or the cart itself.

Raytron

How can I ensure that joomla registration is never be used?

When I execute a purchase and continue to the "cart", the user has the chance to register - this registration is not working.

Milbo

if you use the registration in the cart or vm account maintenance, then it works as you expect
