How can stop fake users registering on the website?

I have installed the OPC of Rupostel which is working fine. So on new customer has to register himself by this OPC, there is not another possibility and till now I don't see a reason to change this.

But the fake registration is done I think by "http://domainname/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user" . You can access this page without being registered.

How can I block this page? Or is there an opportunity to add at least a captcha for this page?  I was thinking to remove the button "registering".

And my last question is: Why is someone doing this? What is the idea behind it? I don't understand it. Although it is not ransomware, this makes me angry.

Thanks,

Nico

Spambot registrations are usually direct to Joomla at domain.com/index.php?option=com_users&view=registration  - VM registration usually has required fields so is not subject to this..

In all cases you can enable recaptcha which may help.

AH

Capthca is a killer for sales conversion for many sites

I wonder if a test could be performed to prevent VM registration if there were no items in a customers cart

Sorry to say, but i have add recapcha at the VM configuration and it is over for now! This time it has nothing to do with joomla registration.

But it is not the link I mention earlier I think: "http://domainname/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user", but the 'default' for changing you're registration like ""http://domainname/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=user&layout...."!!!

Why I think it is this link?
If type this url in my browser I get this page with recapcha and what I say it is over for now.
The first link I mention, if I type this url in my browser I don't see a recapcha, but I will remove the button 'Register'.

I don't know it is good to mention these two links here but I don't know how to ask this in another way.

But what is the idea behind this? I don't understand this. They try use this side as as spam source? Or why are people doing this??????

If you've enabled guest checkout, the captcha will be visible after the user click on "register".

Or maybe your template is not up to date.

Most of these sign-ups are carried out by bots that are sent out to fill in any and all web forms in the hope of getting their text (and web links) into your webpages.  The spam bot thinks your sign-up form is a comment box or a forum's post form and that their submission will appear at the bottom of your page. Captcha does stop bot registrations but not those spammy ones made by humans.....

You can check the site access logs to see what url(s) are being used by the bots.

There is some useful info on prevention of false registrations on https://joomla.stackexchange.com/questions/14047/how-to-stop-fake-users-from-registering-on-my-website
