How to disable search for child products in VM 3.0?

Hi Guys,

I am trying to disable the search for vm child products. I want to search only the categories but not the children. I am using the Joomla default module.

Can anyone please suggest me? I am stuck.

are the children in the parents category? .. been a while since I did one like this but from memory it works better if the children are NOT in any category.. also for cat display - if they are in a category you get the parent and all the children on a cat display

But my products are already under categories. I want their respective categories to be searched but not the products.

Is there anyway I can override the default search which will exclude child products?

You haven't even answered my question! are the children in the parents category?

if so then if u search that cat then obviously they will show - if u don't want that you will have to do some hack that excludes products with a parent product - or take the children out of the category
