I have in Joomla 3.3.6

Search Engine Friendly URLs Yes
Use URL rewriting Yes
Adds Suffix to URL Yes
Cache is Off

in VM 3.0.3

Seo Suffix -detail

When I click on the category product navigation, I can get to the next page, but not back. It refreshes the site and nothing happen. Even if I click on the category it shows me the last page I clicked. I cannot get back to any previous page.

Uff, I am glad it is know and it is Joomla and not VM. lol
