Is there a way to put the category info on the side, like a position on a regular joomla page?

http://www.quickertek.com/wifi.html

this is an example.

I'd also like to be able to do that with products.

GJC Web Design

it is simply templating - all the info is available in the category default template

I can't find anything called category default template.
I'm familiar with Joomla, but virtuemart not so much. at all.
Where is this, or a tutorial on how to do it? I read the documentation, and well....

If you are familiar with Joomla then you will already know about view files and template overrides. The  default view files for VM are in the various tmpl sub-directories under components/com_virtuemart/views/

Documentation is on http://docs.virtuemart.net/tutorials/templating-layouts.html
