Tanase B.

Hi!
I have a multilingual website with J! & VM with over 2k products and from time random categories along with their Joomla menu items and products are disappearing from front-end & back-end. Though, after a couple of minutes they are back again, but it's still an issue!

Technical info:
- Joomla! 2.5.27
- VM 2.6.10
- DB 5.1.73
- PHP 5.4.16
- Apache/2.2.15
- Linux host
- Joomla cache off
- Gzip compression on

Could this be related to php version? From what i've read, VM it's faster and works better with 5.5 (I got this from a topic about VMTable - sef alias error which I also experience sometimes when saving products for additional languages), but I think 5.4 should work without any flaws..
Maybe it's a caching issue? Regarding virtuemart cache, let's say I want to add/change title for a product/category for FR language - after I save & try to see my changes I get a message which says that there's no translation for fr or title is still the same, but after a couple of minutes I can see my changes. It's this normal?

*Also, I'm using Language Domains extensions for changing website language (for eg. uk language goes to website.uk / fr language goes to website.fr).

None of what you mention are problems with a base install of Joomla/VM

the php version is fine

so  - whats left is caching.. what caching are you using? Personally I don't use it on my sites
And this lang-domain thing

if you disable it what happens

but I go with cache -- disappearing then re-appearing without intervention? Can only be a caching issue surely

I'm not using any cache system at all.
Probably it is the virtuemart internal cache. When I go to Maintenance: Clear Cache (for site) i have the following listed:
1              com_virtuemart_cats 476 522.44 kb
2 com_virtuemart_rss 3 31.79 kb
3 convertECB 4 2.49 kb
4 t3_assets 9 104.05 kb
5 t3_pages

4 & 5 are from template (T3 Framework) which only caches the frontend styles & scripts (css/js - minify/compress)

If i filter by Administrator the Maintenance: Clear Cache page I get nothing, but this issue manifests on both backend and frontend.

I also think this is a cache issue, but what could it causes?

LE: I wonder, could this happen because I manually clear cache from administrator from time? I don't really remember if I did this before the disappearing, but I'm just saying...

and if some are missing and you clear the com_virtuemart_cats cache do they instantly re-appear?

Ok, just had another strange issue and YES it's cache related.
The issue (on frontend): on main language I was seeing the category title from my second language instead of default title and after I deleted the com_virtuemart_cats cache files it came back to normal.

I've made multiple webstores using J! & VM, but none of them had these issue. The only difference is that this one is multilingual.

"System - Cache" plugin is disabled & "Cache" setting from Global Configuration is off.

is your host using any sort of caching - many do to load even more sites on to already crowed servers..

I have a VPS (setup made by me) that only hosts this website.
If matters: centos 6.5 with virtualmin/webmin.

I'll search some info to see if there's something enabled for cache by default.
Any other thoughts would be useful. Thank you so far!

I have the same issue with VM caching even with joomla cache and the system cache disabled. If I disable jotcache the VM caching comes back regardless

This is good news! So it's not something wrong with my installation / configuration.

It still could be I'm afraid.  My installation has a number of issues that aren't typical vm2 bugs so I can't rule this out as another.
