Pricing display on category product list with multiple prices

I have posted here before i figured it out.

the problem is that in the category product listing if you have multiple prices and your quantity isnt 0 the lowest quantity pricing isnt displayed.
the FIX to this issue is shown in the link above.

The issue this CAUSES is if you have an add to cart from the category how would it be affected?
Can we solve this issue without too much hassle?

One possible easy way would be to make the code change based on catalog mode or not.
if in catalog mode there isnt an add to cart.

We need this for vm3, and maybe there it is already solved and it must work without interfering the other. Please check vm3.

I agree we totally need it on V3 but I need this to function for V2 right now on a clients site.
I can make the code mods but i know as soon as there is an update i will have to code it in again.
Unfortunately i don't have time in the schedule to test and loo over V3 right at the moment.
