May seem like a silly question but when I upload an product image when creating a new product where is that image stored?

I have looked through the virtuemart component via ftp so wondered if the image is stored in the DB.

Only asking as my web host is asking me about my image sizes (which I have set at 600px) as I have had the error message Bandwith Limit exceeded.

I have checked the images on my computer which I uploaded but just wondered where they go once uploaded.

images will always be in the folder you set in your VM config
default is images/stories/virtuemart/products
thumbs are in a subfolder of the above /resized

Look in configuration under the Templates Tab-

Thanks for the information.  Just couldn't find them.

One other question!  Can you delete images directly from this folder or should you do it via VM?  Its just that I have noticed there are some images which were test images and which I am not using so would like to clear them out of the folder.  They are no longer products so not showing in my products list.

Thanks

If you delete directly

You will need to re-synchronise the media with VM

Otherwise you will have database entries in #_virtuemart_medias without any corresponding image

IMHO it might be better to delete in VM admin
