Stockable variant when 2 or more variants are needed

I used the stockable variants plugin in VM2 and although it semed to be problematic for some users, I always found that it worked OK for me  ;)

But in VM3 there doesn't seem to be any way to set up a product that has more than one variant AND have full stock control - for example A t Shirt with 2 colours & 3 sizes as described here - http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=127500.0
In that example I could easily just set this to one variant/dropdown as there are only 6 children products, showing all the t shirts, colours & sizes, but what happens when there 3 variants and each one has lots of options.

In another VM2 store, I have a parent product with over 100 children & I think this needs to be addressed quickly within VM3.

There are users that need more than one variant, with full stockable control.

I have seen in another post that "Balai" from Breakdesigns has created a stockable variants plugin for VM3 and maybe this can be implemented into core VM3 if its suitable or developed further to suit VM3.

This is exactly what I need as well. To be able to update my site to VM3 and still have the stockable variant functionality that I have at the moment here:

http://breakdesigns.net/ are developing this as a 3rd party plugin. Not sure when this will be ready, but maybe drop him (Sakis) a line to let him know your interested too.

My main point is, I don't understand why the VM dev team has chosen to drop this for VM3

It has not been dropped, but not yet included. I believe the developer who donated the plugin to the VM2 project is now working on the VM3 version.

Thats interesting, thanks for the insight. I have a couple of sites waiting for this before I can move to Joomla3 & VM3 so let me know if you want me to test anything.
