Connect Virtuemart to Customers Shopping Card

I am building an online supermarket and here's something i want to add on

In my country customers who shop from the supermarket I want to represent my online(virtuemart) have reward points shopping cards, whereby when they use cash they get reward points which they can accumulate and can use to shop later on.

My issue is how do I connect a customers card to the Virtuemart system so that when they are using my online store,  the points will go to the their card...  so that even if they are not online and decide to  physically shop from the supermarket, their points which they accumulated on my online store will be reflected at the Till in the supermarket.

the card is like this. Has the name and account name of the holder


Hope it's not confising to you my good people. I really need an idea here.

For starters the card provider has to have an api to hook into - have they?

but this isn't  a small project - will take a lot of thought and code...
