No notifications, emails or PM's being received

I guess the wrong board but can't see any where else to post..

As the title says I recieve nothing from the forum - 2 forum users contacted me directly to say they had sent messages but nothing received
I also don't receive notifications of replies

have just tried to send an email from the profile to myself - nada

Checked of course spam etc - and yes - email address is working fine..

Just need confirmation that others are receiving their messages OK before I try other things

Yep - got the PM but no notification in an email etc

have changed to a gmail address - I now receive an email I sent from my Profile - will see if this "notify" appears

was finger trouble / or the email address - got your "notify" of a new post...

needed to choose For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of: replies and moderation

and got to the bottom of the non delivery of email to my "proper" address

Our server checks the headers for a correct HELO from the sending server.
The VM Forum mail server replies with a "localhost" as the HELO name and is therefore dumped as not correct.

"localhost" belongs to my server so when the HELO check is performed forum.virtuemart.net claims to resolve to our server which is wrong.

Generally the HELO name should be the server name or domain name. For example, our server replies the HELO name as cl10-dc14-de.dns-guards.com.

will effect any server that does a perform RFC-compliant HELO verifications.

The forum was recently moved to a new server. Will pass that observation upwards.

left a message on Milbo's skype as I ended up locked out of here - (couldn't receive the authentication email to confirm change of email)  -  if this happens to anyone else if you keep sending the "resend auth email" a few times SMF seems to get huffy and offer to send it to another email address - this worked and I am back...

I'm experiencing the same problem since some time (probably since the forum was moved to the
new server). No e-mail notifications for incoming personal messages....
What do you advise to do?

The forum mail server needs to be configured properly to show it's server name - not localhost.. in the HELO name

until this is done mail sent to (our) mail servers that are securely configured will always fail.....

I had to change my forum email address to a gmail account .. not ideal

I have reconfigured the email server for the forum. Notifications should be working again now.

Please let me know if there's still something wrong.
