How to select custom fields(attributes) on Checout page (in the cart)

Hello, all!

Looking for answer, is there the way to select/change customfields on Checkout Page?

Sometimes customers adding black dress in the cart but then they are decide to buy the same white dress, I dont want them to delete product, then go to shop and a it again, I want them to select it straight in the cart.

May be there is complete solution for than? Any plugin?

As per my understanding all data in the cart stored in the session and all that needed -just to edit customfield value in the session. Is that mean hack the core?

What is stored in the session is the product ids and the selected custom values.
The selected custom values are displayed as plain text at the moment.
