Remove one parent with purchase of any number of child items

I have been digging through the forums trying to find an answer for this to no avail. Not sure if it is possible.

I have a parent product with two or three children. The parent is a room to be booked and the children are adults, children over 2 yrs and infants. I am looking for a way to reduce the stock by one in the parent for any number of child items which are purchased.

Site is running VirtueMart 2.0.20b and Joomla 2.5.11.

Both versions must to be updated to latest for better security.
