ReCaptcha-Captcha for the "Ask A Question" form

I've been searching around for a while and, since I didn't find anything to help with this, I attacked it on my own.

I have a problem with the step 6) line of code:
$resp = recaptcha_check_answer ($privatekey, $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"], $_POST["recaptcha_challenge_field"], recaptcha_response_field"]);

When this line is inserted in productdetail.php as specified, the product detail page does not load but is completely white.

Is it because this line always returns an error code, so that the next if statement makes the page die?

Isn't Easy Calc Check Plus captcha more user friendly and accumulate wide range of antispam services in it?
