Large file fails to download
« on: June 20, 2012, 10:22:16 am »

I can't tell you how much time and effort I've been spending on trying to have a sellable download in my virtuemart shop (VM1). I'm up to about 3 weeks.

I have followed this post -

I have my 660 MB file sitting in a bucket in Amazon (S3) of which the the shop points to that file, via a CNAME record.

I am finally able to download the file (I couldn't before because it just kept timing out).

However, purchasing the mp4 (currently free) starts to download but then stops at 16 MB or even less!

I just don't know what to do anymore. The hosts won't increase any php settings. What's stopping it from downloading in full?

Further testing with Amazon has proven it's not them and that it's more likely to be Virtuemart.

I'd be very grateful for someone's assistance because I've exhausted all avenues and need some serious guidance.

Please help!

Im really suppprised no one has answered this post

Something to do with end of support for J1.5/VM1.1 and much fewer people using it now.

This limitation of of php file dowload size was discussed 5 years ago and a possible solution mentioned.

Two years ago a developer asked if anyone was interested in a fix.
But there were apparently no takers.

It won't be VM, it will be your host.
Get a better host and the problem with go away.

When I download from you, you have to get it from amazon, if it takes to long then it will time out.
