Hello,

How do you create products for a multilingual website? I mean do you go and create two products, one for every language?
What I did so far is the following:

1) I create two categories; English and French
2) Under English I create the product with an English name and English description.
3) Under French I create the same product with a French name and French title but same SKU.

Is this the way how to do it?

hi,
You can do it. And you have to create menu product corresponding to each of languages

Hi,

I have other question:
I have multilanguage shop with 3 languages.
I create all categories in default language and in every category options I change to other language and create it for others language. After that I change the Joomla language to others and see that the categories are really create in other language.
Then I go to products and in every product I change the language to create it for other language. So there is only two flags for name and for alias.

My question is:
When I change in product from english language to russian how can I select russian category because I have only english category? And in the French language is the same problem - I cannot see the french categories to select it...

Thank you in advance!
Best Regards

Choose category in english. It's your main web site language, right?

Yes, english is my main web site language.
When I choose english category is it redirecting to correct language category because I see that when I created my main menus and in french menu I choose again english category I see that it is redirecting to same category but in french language.

Now I test it with other site:
Joomla: 2.5.14
VM: 2.0.22a
3 Languages: Bulgarian(Main); English; Russian

It is working in all language:

  • with categories.

  • with products.

  • with menus.

So I think that VM: 2.0.22a is the last stable VM version.
With the new 2.0.22c I have a lot problems and have to returt to 2.0.22a...

2.0.22e has latest language fixes (check Dev Portal at the top of current page).
