Suggestions On How to Attach a File Upload Per Ordered Item and Now Whole Order

Hi, 

I am new to VM and Joomla.  I was hoping for suggestions on where to start or how I should think about setting this up.

I am building a shop that sells printed items.  The shopper needs to upload their own design file.  I actually store the files on www.box.com.  I need to attach the uploaded file name per ordered item.  Basically I would like the shopper to select the item, upload the file, and then add to cart. 

Do you think building a custom field plug-in that uploads the file and saves the link as some cart attribute variant would work?  I've just been having issues trying to find a way to stick in a upload file form that you can see that link in your cart per item.

This is pretty much exactly what I want to do as well.

I did find these extensions, which sound like they'd do the job, but neither of them seem to be compatible with joomla 2.5 so I can't even make a decision on VM compatability, I somehow don't fancy asking the client to spend $120 dollars when theres so many questions left unanswered.

Hi,

Thanks for the links!  I had previously looked at www.joomlavm.com and he does have a version compatible with Joomla 2.5, but that customization only allowed the attachment of files per order.  The problem is that each line item in my order has specific customizations for each product.  I'd have to rely on the shopper to specifically tell me what design file is for which product item + customizations they're adding.   I'm not sure a client would label their files that nicely for me.  If I had a lot of volume, it'll be a headache for me to clarify. 

But I haven't looked at bixie.  Since it's free maybe I can see how it attacks this problem with its code.  Thanks!

Those are the legacy versions, not sure how well they'll be supported.

Those are the latest versions, seems to be fairly well developed.

How did you get on with Bixie? I'd need to revert my clients site back to 1.6 in order to use it so I'm holding out for another solution.

Want to attach Photos or upload Files into Virtuemart order, then you just need to install this plugin without the need to do any hacks to your core Virtuemart files.

-   Shopper can upload and bind files into their order at CHECK OUT step and the files is sent to admin/ owner of Virtuemart
-   Upload multiple files at the same time with Ajax effect, no need to refresh the order pages
-   Shopper can CANCEL the upload process any time, especially when there is problem during upload ( ex: file too heavy)
-   Shopper can chose to DELETE any files or delete All files uploaded at 1 clicks
-   Images files will be automatically thumbnail created
-   All the Virtuemart payment and check out process is still the same, no changes except
-   Shopper can add Comment into standard Virtuemart order comment


Back End:

-   Store Owner can download the files from each order management
-   Can configure the number of files to be uploaded
-   Can configure the maximize files size to be uploaded
-   Can chose which file extensions to be uploaded


The plugin is commercial and is compatible with Virtuemart 2.x.x and Joomla 2.x.x. You do not have to do any HACKS to Virtuemart Core files to use this plugin. Just install like normal Joomla plugins
