Hello,

This a joomla configuration and not VM. If we assume that you have already both Joomla 2.5 SEO and VM 2.0x SEO enabled to remove the index.php you can simple rename in your home folder htaccess.txt to .htaccess
The default joomla htaccess has a rule that hides the index.php from your url.
The .htaccess to work needs on your joomla globa configuration-> SEO settings to enable Use URL rewriting.

The above regarding on .htaccess it will work if you use Apache as web server.

for information about htaccess you can find here: http://docs.joomla.org/How_do_you_convert_an_htaccess.txt_file_into_a_.htaccess_file

Hope it helps.

Regards
Production: Joomla 2.5.8 | VM 2.0.14 | PHP 5.3.13
Testing     : Joomla 2.5.8 | VM 2.0.16 | PHP 5.3.8
Testing     : Joomla 2.5.8 |    VM 2.1   | PHP 5.3.8

You can't really expect a 5 year old docs link to still work or now be relevant! bytelord left the forum over a year ago. The link is fixed if you want to read the page.
