product description dissapears from second language
« on: March 16, 2012, 20:30:31 pm »
J2.5.2 with VM 2.0.3b

I have a bi-langual setup; lets say Lang A and Lang B.
I have entered products in Lang A, then switch to Lang B in the product information, add the new title in the Lang B and add the translation in the product description tab.
Press save and all is well.
Then I go back, edit something in Lang A but then: when I change to Lang B again, the whole product description is back to the one of Lang A and all work in Lang B is gone.
Is this a bug or did I miss something?

Please check this:

If the first idea doesn't help, scroll down to the end to the second page in this threat. Maybe the last one helps.  ;)

Thanks for your suggestions but none is working for me.

All DB tables are there, the translation is working in front and backend, it just seems to get wipes out during an edit session in the backend.
Funny thing is that in the productpage / description, the top part / short description stays but the main product description reverts back to the main language.
This page has quite a lot on it, including tables etc but still should work of course.
THis site has to go live this week so help is appreciated.
THis site started with vm 2.0 and has gone through all minor and major (beta) versions. THe only thing I can imagine is that something went wrong along the road of many updates.

If I remember correctly, I had something similar when using the JCE editor. After switching to TinyMCE the problem disappeared.

Wow, good catch! Indeed switching off JCE editor solved the problem. Never thought about that....
Thanks a lot!

Hi!

I'd like to know if this issue is planned to be solved in a future update? I tried many editors (JCE, JoomlaCK and CKEditor) and they are all behaving the same way regarding the product description edition in a multilingual site.

I don't mind using TinyMCE in the meantime, but I hope this will be fix eventually cause I miss the JCE functionnalities I'm used to.

Joomla version: 2.5.3
VirtueMart Version: 2.0.2

Thanks!  :)
