stockable variants working, when ordering no warnings when out of stock

finally got the variable stock variant working. now with some test products set up (color, size, number of items), i am testing on the front page, but when you order 100 items f.e., while the number of items is only 10, no out-of-stock warning/message is given.... ??

am i doing something wrong or....? (see attachment)

I am having this problem without using variables. I have a product, I put stock 3. When you see the product you see I have stock and you can buy it but if you buy 5 the system lets you put the order even when I have 3 in stock... this is a huge problem because people can order more items than what I have... how do we fix this issue???
