Child products get unpublished

Hi,

I use the parent product as kind of pattern for childs,  parent is unpublished, my childs have a category...everything works fine until I want to change something in my parent .. I added some related products to my parent and after saving all chils got unpublished and lost category... what am I doing wrong?
