Hello,

I'm struggling with custom fields the last two days.
I've create a Custom Field, Integer with Cart Attribute.

I have two options. 3kg - 15,00€ and 15kg - 70,00€.

What i need is, when the user select an option ex. 3kg - 15,00€, this price (15,00€) be the FINAL, not added to the original value.

Is this possible ? I've attach a screenshot.

Thanks in advance,
Manolis

No one ?

Is that possible ?
You know its kind difficult for my client to make calculations on every product, so just the final price would be great!

Thanks

plastique

its not possible with standard custom fields,

It could be done with a plugin though.

I dont know of anyone who has developed on yet, but I know it can be done.

Hey BanquetTables.pro,

You think is not possible with some "hack" not to add the value but to take it as the final price ?

Thank you

no reason to hack, it can be done with a plugin, thats what they are for.

Totally NON-STUPID question, why the hell would I want to use a plugin for something that is so obviously a must in any store software? PEOPLE NEED OPTIONS. I am beyond frustrated with Virtuemart and the lack of ACTUAL help I can find on it.

Example: your Custom Fields Explained post. D'ya think it would be helpful if you ACTUALLY EXPAINED THEM not just tell us what we already know by looking in the frigging component?

All I want to be able to do is like this other guy, have different price points for different versions of a product and have the base price equal the selection the customer chooses.  Why this functionality would NOT be included is out of this world. It's so dumb and annoying that the common store functions are just not present in this software. STARTING TO SERIOUSLY HATE IT and rethink my entire store requirements and what software to use that ACTUALLY OFFERS the functionality required. >:(

If you want the "equal" functionality, you will have to either find someone who has developed a custom field plugin for it, or wait on someone to.
or, I think child products can do this.

Maybe if you know some coding you can modify my custom field plugin to use "equals"

I agree with tcuttrissweb, i am ready to launch the e-shop and this thing holds me back 3 weeks now.
It's something i think that should be the default.

But in anyway (tcuttrissweb)  there's no need to be upset and talk like that.

LoL, sorry, I dont get your problem.

Guys, the first thing you should do is to install the sample data. Then take a look on the product with id=1, we call it "Hand Shovel". There is exactly what you want since months.

Before screaming around, blaming and accusing people who debt you nothing is just ridicolous.  I say RTFM! Read the FAQ, look at the sample!

You are totally right Milbo. One should allways, before shouting, RTFM!
But... on behalve of all of us posting questions on these board(s). It is not very easy to find a good answer to some basic questions. And for the sake of the manual: where is it? Where can we find the complete VM2 bible. I don't mind paying on Amazon, but it just isn't there. At least I haven't found it, not a good one at least.

I am no IT/web newby, but some VM functions are just not clear.
I understand fully that VM is free, and we can't expect the same support we get from a commercial company. But again, for that matter. I would be glad to pay, if that would mean a better support system, amongst other things.

I have migrated to VM2 recently. A lot of people adviced me to look for other solutions, since they feel VM is getting behind on Redshop for instance.

To wrap it up: VM is the current marketleader, let's make sure it stays that way!

Regarding RTFM RTFM i would love TO RTFM if there is one ????????????.

Time is money. Going through forums is NOT commercially viable only as a last resort.

I would love to DONATE. I get paid on results and this goes for the chain supplier, developer and customer.

I've created a online store for my wife partner. I am finding it hard work. But as this is for internal use I can just afford to
play around trying to get it to work.

I have now got two more stores to create. These involve the customer paying money for my services and this also goes for
the supplier of the goods I supply ( virtuemart ) but with the lack of RTFM and Magento has lost, lots, lotssss of RTFM books, videos
and the rest. So I really don't want to move away from Joomla and that's why I wanted to use Virtuemart. But on a commercial footing
I will have to move away. ? why is there a German book but not in English I believe the world speaks English. Even a poor Google
translation would help. We do work with a other German software house and have the same problem with communication and manuals.

So on the WISH list PLEASE can you produce a developer book as a matter of urgency. Or is the problem V2 has not been ratified as a finished
product. If so can you inform your loyal followers and don't push them away to some other product and the loss of revenue to yourselves and
your developers.

is there a manual or tutorial link of VM2 Custom Fields ?

I've done 7 or 8... VM2 instalations and i never cant get Custom Fields working ... i think this is not so easy to do...
or maybe i am missing something in the configuration.

1) I dont have template override.
2) I am using the Default VM2 Sample Data.
3) In the Circular Saw if i Change the Size (Custom Field) the Final Price changes (automatic) in the Product Details view.... works great! -> but..........
But then we click in "Add to Cart" ...
we could see that in the Cart checkout the "Circular Saw" got allways the same default price...
not what we want....price + custom field

how to solve this?

While I also understand that VM is a free piece of software, I agree with andyrain completely.

I would also like to add that I think that the above reply to some questions by your user base is completely inappropriate.  The above statement epitomises the way that the VM team appear to be handling various issues with VM2 - by denying that there is a problem, then blaming the users for not understanding, followed by trying to fob us off with readiung a manual, which is based on features that do not work as written, or not at all.

Any product, whether free or not is only as good as its support.  In any transaction, whether money changes hands or not, the customer is always right.

If a large number of your users (customers) are unable to get features that they consider to be essential working, then it is VM that have it wrong, not us.

If you bought a TV and it only recieved half the channels, you wouldnt expect the TV shop to skip past all the missing channels, tell you that all the channels are there, and that you obviously dont know much about TVs!

The amount of help and support from other users on this forum is exceptional - even though there is still a huge amount of trial and error being banded about by people in an attempt to make a shoddy system work.

I started working on several customer sites in VM based on good experiences I'd had with earlier versions, and needing to change my servers setup in order to use Magento.  I was unaware of the setbacks that would arise by my choice and wish I'd bitten the bullet and gone with Magento.  Even tiny wordpress based ecommerce themes have the common sense features working properly.

Im too far in to change now, but I cant comfortably suggest that any clients use the VM2 extension until it is working properly.

Sorry for the rant, but the tone of that last comment just completely rattled me.
