custom vm search module

Hi there

I think i've only a small problem but can't manage it for myself.

To order my products in color i give every color a number which i saved in the mysql - database and made a small hack. Everything runs well.
Now i want to add a dropdown-box before the search-field in the vm-search-module to search or show only products with this option(number).

If you need more information feel free to reply.

So i hope it's clear what i tried to explain and someone (you) can help me.
