Selling Downloads virtumart Extension not working

I purchased the VM extension for selling virtuemart and cannot get it to work. My web designer has tried many avenues with no success
Using Joomla 2.5.3 And VM 2.0.2.  When adding product to the media files it works but when adding a picture I recei :-\ve this error message.....        vmError: Media file a buyer broker6.doc should have a mimetype

        Media File saved successfully   Or             JFTP: :delete: Bad response  Anyone know whats wrong?
